Step 1 – Dial in your temperature. Set your heat press to somewhere between 330-340°F. Don't fire away at 300, and don't leave it cranked up at 400 from your last job either. Think about it this way: if a cookie recipe calls for 350°F, you wouldn't bake at 400 just because you felt like it — well, maybe you would, but Grandma would have some words for you.

Step 2 – Give the garment a quick pre-press. Before you even set the transfer down, do a brief preheat pass. This pulls out leftover moisture and leaves you with a smooth, wrinkle-free surface to work on. Much better.

Step 3 – Position your transfer carefully. Nail the placement the first time. This is where a lot of people slip up — upside-down designs, crooked lines, wrong colors, wrong sizes, you name it. Take the extra ten seconds to double-check before you commit.

Step 4 – Protect thin fabrics. Working with something delicate — women's tops, baby onesies, undergarments? Slide a sheet of parchment paper or Teflon inside the garment, between the front and back layers. Otherwise, glue can bleed through and fuse the front of the shirt to the back. Not a fun surprise.

Step 5 – Apply heat. Press the rhinestones for 10-15 seconds at roughly 40-50 psi — medium pressure on most machines.

Step 6 – Press from the back too. Flip the garment and give it another 10-second press from the reverse side. This second pass locks everything in so the stones stay put long-term.

Step 7 – Let it cool fully. Resist the urge to touch it right away. Use this downtime to line up your next transfer on another piece. Rule of thumb: if you're even wondering whether it's cooled enough, it hasn't. Give it a bit more time.

Step 8 – Peel the backing away. Once cooled, remove the transfer sheet in one smooth motion, pulling along the direction of the fabric grain. Minimizing stretch here keeps your design looking crisp.

Step 9 – Show it off. Wear it, gift it, sell it — however you planned to enjoy your finished piece, go do that now.
